Want The Low-Down on Tori Spelling's Beauty Tips?

We chatted with Tori Spelling at Macy's Herald Square in NYC—she was there to help celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal kick off a program to teach women how to use Q-tips to avoid makeup meltdowns. With Spelling's years in showbiz, we figured she knows her way around a makeup bag. Here's what she shared:

And now... Q-tip boxes get a makeover serve many more purposes than ear cleaning.

Allure: It's hot and rainy outside, and your makeup still looks great. What is your summer-proof makeup secret?

TS: During the summer, you have to rethink your regime. I don't usually wear foundation in the summer. I wear concealer under my eyes, especially if I'm tired from being up all night with the kids. Clé de Peau is my favorite, it's the one thing I'll splurge on. And I wear tinted moisturizer.

Allure: When you're not with a makeup artist, what tricks do you use?

TS: I was the girl with a gazillion and one makeup brushes, but after being in so many shoots and doing so many things over the years, you learn amazing tricks—especially with Q-tips. I learned how to smoke my eyes out with them.

Allure: If you're in a hurry and can only apply one product to your face, what is it?

TS: Mascara. First, I curl my lashes, which I think makes a huge difference. Then I throw on a waterproof mascara and go. I've tried every single one, and I love Maybelline mascaras.

Bruce Wayne, Spelling's makeup artist, gave us a peek into her makeup bag. Here's what she was packing: Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer; DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation; Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Powder; YSL 4 Colour Harmony for Eyes Palette in #1 Sienna, Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned ("Tori is very picky about her lip colors," Wayne said. "She will only wear plums, wines, and some reds, but never pinks or peaches"), and YSL Golden Gloss in #16 Golden Burgundy.

20 Beauty Tips to Usher in the New Year

Happy New Year to you all. Hope you had a nice Christmas and hopefully we would all have a prosperous 2007.

This year we are going to strive to remain as beautiful as ever, I'll start off by giving you these twenty beauty tips that will only take a minute or less each. I call it quick fix, look good and feel great beauty master class:

1. Face looking dull?

The quickest way to boost your skin is to put three ice cubes in a basin of cold water and splash your face with it.

2:Dry/Cracking lips:

Apply Vaseline lip balm, the one in the small round tin, available in most pharmacies. In the absence of this, for a quick fix, you can use any lip gloss that is glossy or glossy lipsticks. Use matching lip liner after you've applied them for more definition but without an obvious lip line. Don't make it thick.

3: Dry, flaky face:

Apply your foundation twice, be sure to use an oil based foundation. If you don't have your foundation or if you don't use one, use a face cream to moisturize. It gets the face shining and reduces the appearance of dryness and flakes.

4: Shining face:

On the other hand, if your face is too oily and shining use a matt/oil control face powder to fresher up.

5: Puffy/tired eyes:

Close your eyes for a minute and re-open, then massage the points around your eyes to reduce puffiness, press your fingers gently into the points around and along cheek socket and brow bone, then count to four and release.

6: Pale eyes:

Apply eyeliner and eye shadow, this lifts the eyes and enhances your looks so much that it takes the attention off your pale looking eyes. Make it simple and elegant, nothing complicated considering you have only one minute.

7: Twisted and rough eyelashes:

To highlight eyes quickly, apply two coats of mascara, wait for the first coat to dry before applying the second, as it creates clumps and spidery looking lashes when applied immediately.

8: Rough brows:

Apply brow pencil immediately as this makes it appear neater. If you have bushy brows, there are couple of things you can do to make it look kept, a few seconds to groom your eyebrows is worth it. You can use a damp toothbrush to brush the brows into place or touch a drop of baby oil with your finger and run it over the brows to arrange them into shape.

9: Rough dry hair:

Use some oil sheen spray for instant shine or some baby oil. Don't use hair cream if you only have a minute or less as hair cream is heavy and doesn't disappear easily into the hair. Do this for natural and permed hair but if you have extensions use braid sheen or if your hair is held up in a pony tail or pack-up style, use a hair gel such as Sam gel, it's oil based and when applied to dry hair adds instant gloss.

10: Got a Spot?

There is always one! There is always one annoying spot when you least expect it to pop up on the face. To reduce the size and redness dab on lavender oil and leave it in for 60 seconds, this will rapidly reduce redness and inflammation.

To be cont'd.
Join me in the next edition for the remaining ten beauty quick fix tips. Till then remain radiant and beautiful.

Season after season, his looks define contemporary style.

Pita has created looks for Kors, Versace, YSL, Prada, Valentino, Dior, Gucci, Galliano, and Zac Posen and has carried his expertise through many of their campaigns. Pita's trend establishing style is featured regularly in Italian, French, and American Vogue, Allure, and W. It is no surprise that his unrivaled body of work has caught the eye of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Connelly as well as Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce who are all clients of Pita. In 2004 Pita opened his salon, Orlo, in New York. Understated, yet elegant, his salon atmosphere is quite relaxing and free of clutter, enabling only truly beautiful work to be created and admired.

So when his PR rep contacted me and said he'd be in town for ONE day and that she could set up an appointment for me with him to style my hair, I jumped at the chance!

Top tips from a make-up artist

BEAUTY BAZAAR: EXPERTS IN THE beauty industry each have their own tips and tricks, which is why I love to get the chance to benefit from an insider’s experience. Jane Richardson is one such person. She has been a make-up artist for 14 years, working on television, runway shows and fashion editorials for Vogue , Elle and the like.

In 2000 she became a European training manager for NARS cosmetics, which is one of the most respected names in the industry due to the artistic vision of its founder, François Nars. Nars lives on his own island, gives exotic names to the colour palette, and uses uber cool, ergonomic matt black packaging, which all adds up to something rather special.

Top 10 tips from Jane Richardson

1. Experiment and have fun with make-up. Embrace who you are, and more importantly the features that make you unique. Never be afraid to try something new, and if it makes you smile . . . wear it.

2. Good make-up starts with good skin. I recommend double cleansing (and a white towel); with the first cleanse getting rid of the city, and the second deep-cleansing the pores. Use Gentle Cream Cleanser for soothed, softened skin. The white towel will show instantly if you are not cleansing properly.

3. Protect your skin. Use a product such as Essential Vitamin Serum, with vitamins E and C that is designed to go over your moisturiser. It will protect your skin, and also activates and boosts your own collagen.

4. Always colour match your foundation to your skin. Remember that you may change depending on the season. Use the foundation only where you need it (usually the centre panel of the face).

5. Loose powder is a must. NARS powders are triple milled for the lightest finish. Powder sets foundation, smooths skin and fills in pores. Use a powder puff to “push and roll” the product into the skin, and a brush to buff the skin.

6. Want to make up your eyes in minutes? Use a cream shadow as a base. Apply over the lid with your fingers and then push the eye shadow powder into the cream (the cream acts like a magnet, sucking the powder towards it, and the powder sets the cream). Always use a sturdy, less flexible brush (the best starter brush is the NARS #3 eye shader). Pick up your pigment and tap off onto your hand before application.

7. Blend eye make-up. Most women don’t blend their eye make-up high enough, leaving colour just on the lid, which can leave the eyes looking small. Apply colour on the lid, then place some pigment on the tip of the brush. Stare straight ahead into a mirror and place the brush just above your crease. Raise your chin and look down into the mirror. You will see a gap, fill it in and see your eyes widen.

8. Can’t line your eyes? Invest in a push liner brush. Using a dark cream, such as Zardoz, or shadow (wet or dry) hold the brush at the ferrule (where the metal meets the handle). Use your little finger balanced on your cheek, and push forward to the roots and wiggle. You will get a tight line at the lashline. With practice you will be able to make the line bigger, eventually using the brush to get a flick.

9. Use more blush. So many women are scared of blusher. It can be like a facelift, and can give the skin a youthful glow. Try Taos powder blush or Cactus Flower cream blush and see the compliments flood in.

10. You know best. Friends can be great for advice, but remember when purchasing a new lipstick, or shadow, most end up suggesting the colours that they wear. You are an individual, so if you like it

New-Feature-Fashion-Forecast-With-Stephanie-Pratt

The girls of The Hills take the term "fashion forward" to a whole new level, with their individual clothing lines, careers at People's Revolution, and FIDM schooling. Because so many of you thought Stephanie Pratt's previously posted fashion and beauty tips were right on the mark, we've gone ahead and created a guest blog where Stephanie will inform the masses about hot trends inside the Hollywood VIP scene.
Hi guys! One of the trends I'm following right now is Grecian-themed clothing and accessories. Jersey tube dresses are part of this theme, as well as one-shoulder dresses like the black number I'm wearing in the pic below. I like to wear them in solid colors, but they also look really cute in prints -- animal! I always wear these types of dresses with a strappy sandal -- metallic and/or gladiator. Just make sure they're flats -- heels take away from the whole Athenian vibe. You can dress up the look with lots of gold jewelry (the Forever 21 fake stuff totally works!) like this medallion necklace I'm wearing.

Now She's Rockin'- A Beauty Makeover with Rob Closs

Dawn Skinner, from 94.5 The Bull a.k.a The Cougar... just got tame!

My mission was to do a beauty makeover, and provide Dawn with some usable fashion advice and beauty tips. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect walking into the Cougar's den. The first words out of her mouth were "Are you the guy that's going to make me cougar-lishious?" She immediately set the tone for the rest of the day - fun, fun, fun, and more fun!

My two years on the "So Chic" television show with Chris Hyndman and Steven Sabados gave me the tools to break this wildcat. By doing makeovers for literally dozens of women, all shapes and sizes, with different expectations and dreams, I learned that knowing your client is crucial for a successful beauty makeover / transformation. Making sure the process is fun, smooth and empowering is just as important as the outcome. Using this formula, we walked into the lion's den and wooed her into a kitten with a new attitude.

Fashion Advice:
Let's Get Dressed! A woman's style is broken down into two components: what works for your body type and what you want to wear. Coloration, fabric, how it falls on you body and the design all play a very important role, but nothing is more important than feeling comfortable in your own style. If you have to be talked into an outfit - don't buy it! The reason behind this is because when you wear it out on that special occasion, it will feel more like Colombo's raincoat and that's when you will begin to curse yourself.

Dawn tried on a collection of luxury. Her first fitting was a beautiful Anne Cline silk dress, which had a flowing hemline that followed her around like a ballet dancer. However, the empire waist, which can be extremely flattering on many body types, (i.e. short- waisted women) did not work on Dawn's slim, fit frame. This mother of four has done some serious Abdominal work in her day. The empire design offered a slightly lanky look on her body type, and ballooned her bust line, giving her a matronly look. The outfit we ended up with was initially outside of Dawn's comfort zone, but within minutes of having it on, she was sold.

Beauty Tip:
The cool red tone of this velvet bandolero jacket is beautiful for Dawn's skin tone and overall constitution. Dawn's natural hair color is brown/black. This puts her in a color category of cool-vivid. The jacket is in the same color category -- a harmonious match.

Your natural hair color is a strong guideline for your makeup and wardrobe colors that are going to make you look hot! The flattering centre line of this outfit is snug on Dawn's mid-section, giving her an elegant, subtle cleavage, exposing her midriff occasionally, while still demanding respect. The hugging lace and satin skirt continues the tight curvy lines that make this ensemble so appealing.

Although Dawn's first choice for footwear would have been the soft leather boots that felt "like butter" when she put them on, we went with slick, black stilettos, with some bling detailing in the centre.

Elle's fashion tips

Three of Australia's most gorgeous women have helped unveil a month-long celebration of fashion and beauty.

Elle Macpherson, Sarah Murdoch and pop star Delta Goodrem lent their support to ACP Magazines' inaugural 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty.

Some 30 of Australia's leading fashion designers, including Alex Perry, Akira Isogawa, Leona Edmiston and Jodhi Meares, turned out for the glamorous launch event at new Sydney nightspot the Oxford Art Factory Theatre.

Macpherson, who jetted back into the country this week, said she was thrilled to be home.

"It's so wonderful to be on home turf and be with friends and family," she told the crowd.

Sporting a long white dress with a plunging neckline "The Body" paid tribute to Australian Fashion.

"When I come home I go shopping," Macpherson said.

"We have fabulous Australian designers here.

"Australians have this fabulous combination of being effortlessly elegant and seriously cool at the same time."

Macpherson shared a fashion tip she said she swears by: "Laugh a lot."

Also newly back in the country, singer Goodrem glammed it up in a daring black feathered dress.

The 22-year-old said she had recently embraced a more adventurous fashion style.

"I'm trying to have a bit more fun with style," Goodrem said.

"I was very young when I started.

"I'm excited to be having fun with it."

Goodrem, whose husky voice prevented her from performing her new single In This Life, said she had another special duty for the evening.

"I'm going to give Elle my brother's number because my brother asked me that."

Murdoch, there on behalf of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, made a brief appearance onstage with Macpherson and Goodrem.

ACP's 12 magazines have organised more than 48 events across the 30-day festival fashion.

Spring Beauty Trend - Milan’s Keen For Peachy Eye Shadow

Peach shadow is paired with red lips at Dolce & Gabbana and a hippie-chic look at Marni. Photo: IMAXtree.com

If the Spring 2010 runways are any indication, Milan is feeling peachy.

Over the weekend, tangerine shadow was used at no less than five shows in the Italian fashion capital - Pucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Marni and Fendi.

Now, you'd think this collective peachy keen-ness would throw us into a sugar coma. But the shade's popularity only highlighted its diversity: Salmon lids were paired with bright red lips at Dolce & Gabbana (top, left), a wine-stained pout and hippie headbands at Marni (top, right), glam, slicked back locks at Gucci (bottom, left), pretty bronzed cheeks at Pucci (bottom, right) and lots of bronze liner at Fendi.

Unlike another spring trend, peach is universally flattering; it works like a neutral to subtly brighten both skin tone and eye color. "Peach on the eyes is very flattering on everyone; it brings out all eye colors, from brown to blue to green," makeup artist Charlotte Willer told us backstage at Alexandre Herchcovitch.
Peach lids look glam at Gucci, and naturally pretty at Pucci.

Top beauty tips that won't break the bank

The credit crunch is giving us all wrinkles with worry, but there are still ways to help keep the years at bay and feel good without breaking the bank.

n Soak a clean face cloth in cold milk and place it over your face for 10 minutes. Milk contains proteins, fat, amino acids and vitamin A -- all of which reduce redness and calm irritated skin. The lactic acid in milk exfoliates, so skin looks soft and glowing.

n Brighten your smile -- brush with a paste made of baking soda and water a few times a month to remove superficial staining. The graininess neutralises stains and polishes teeth.

n To sidestep stains when drinking red wine, follow your glass of indulgence with a handful of crunchy raw vegetables. They have a brushing action that can rub away fresh stains.

n Lipstick colours with blue undertones make teeth appear brighter. To figure out which of your lipsticks fit the bill, line up three or four shades and compare with one other. It will be more obvious which are blue-based and which have yellow or gold undertones, which bring out the yellow in teeth.

n If your hands are feeling dry, mash a banana until it is of puree consistency and mix it with a tablespoon of butter. Rub it on and if you have a pair of cotton gloves leave it to soak in overnight.

n A good foot soak can be had by putting four leaves of lettuce into a bowl of lukewarm water.

n To add a shine to hair, mix some salt with your regular shampoo.

n Dry your hair upside down to build volume. When you blow-dry, work a palmful of inexpensive mousse from your roots through to the ends, then flip your head over and dry your hair away from the scalp. Hair should be barely damp before you flip it back up and style it.

Stunning beauty tips the scales in Irish world of modelling

Model Emma Quinlan looks set to take the Irish fashion world by storm, by combining her stunning looks with her unusual love for her pet snakes.

The feisty model, who got her first taste of life in the spotlight as a dancer in the worldfamous Moulin Rouge in Paris, set tongues wagging when she posed for a daring photo-shoot with her pet snakes earlier this year.

And the animal-lover says that working with her pets is the perfect job.

“Everything I do is with them. I do a lot of promotional work for companies and they all love to use some of the snakes,” she told the Evening Herald.

“I’m a Latin dancer as well so I work in different clubs, like The Tassel Club here and abroad with the snakes as well.”

“I’m sort of like a modern-day snake charmer – there are a few dancers who use snakes in their acts as well but I think I’m one of the only people who can do different tricks with them. I can do things like the kiss of death which is where you totally open your throat.”

While most people would go to great lengths to avoid any contact with a snake, Emma says that the key to doing the tricks is to forget about your fear. “The best thing to do is just to bite the bullet and do it. I’ve been bitten occasionally but only through my own stupidity and it’s mostly by younger snakes because they don’t really know what they’re doing. None of my older snakes would ever bite me.

“I have one snake, Squirt, who I used in the photo-shoot who comes everywhere with me. I raised her from a hatchling so she’s very attached.

“She follows me around the house at home and when I’m driving in the car with her, she always manages to get out of whatever box I have her in – which always gives bus passengers a huge fright when they look out of the window and see this yellow snake sitting in the front seat beside me!”

Along with her day job, which Emma fell into by chance after being encouraged to enter the Miss Ireland contest by former Miss Ireland, Andrea Roche, she is also kept busy with her hobby – which sees her taking on abandoned lizards and snakes.

“I do a lot of rescues as well so I have a load of lizards with missing toes and things like that. But I mostly have bigger snakes and lizards – I prefer them,” she said.

“I keep them at home in six huge tanks that we just built in our garage.

“And we’re hoping to build another two rooms to house some of the bigger snakes in, Bubbles and Squirt, because they are going to grow to be really big.”

Fashion Young Modeling Tips

Tips
As one of the shortest models working in NYC, I do not live and die by America's Next Top Model, but the underdog appeal of Cycle 13's contestants appealed to me. It isn't easy being a short fashion model even without Tyra's photo challenges, and overall I think the girls cry way too much on the show.

Cheese! A smile is a short model's best asset.

Don't fret if you have braces, or not the whitest teeth, but a smile is a short girl's best asset. Tyra's challenges might show the high fashion poses and perspective, but for a shorter girl, print modeling agencies typically don't welcome the forced, stiff, mean looks, so don't forget to work that smile into your shots. Many girls decide to show their bare skin before their smile, and I think showing your smile in a natural "I can model anyway" confidence is important to show on your model comp card. I think Courtney has a very nice smile. Maybe Colgate will be calling?

Model Upkeep.

Enhance what you do have to show your lack of height isn't a letdown. I thought the makeovers during Episode 1 were just okay. I didn't love them. I think Nicole's red locks should have been cut shorter. I thought Rachel and Brittany looked nice dark, but they are now too similar, and I wished Brittany's hair was made shorter and with a more vibrant brown. It looks kind of dull and dirty already. Bianca was brave, but I think messing with eyebrows can be a risky thing. Tweeze, but take caution when dying them. She obviously hated the experience as news on blog I would too. Model Beauty Tip: My favorite find recently are the small pint-size Noxzema bikini shavers, perfect for touch-ups on the go, down there or anywhere, before castings, at shoots, etc.

If you are petite, short, or not fashion height, then you have to focus on where you fit into the modeling business. Maybe your own foot could actually get you in the model door: Did you know that most shoe models whose glamorus pictures are on internet blog are petite? This is because the sample size for shoe brands for showroom modeling and print ads is a size 6. Most girls who wear a size 6 shoe are petite. See, use what you have to get ahead. Aim high!

Layer-Cake-Transition-Your-Summer-Dresses-Into-Fall

You’ve bought so many beautiful summer dresses…and you only have about a month left to wear them?! The end of summer doesn’t mean the end of your warm-weather wardrobe. By adding just a few basics you can keep wearing your summer frocks into the fall. Here are some fantastic (and affordable!) tips from our Trendsetter Alice of Flat Broke & Fabulous.

One of the hardest things to swallow when the temperature takes that inevitable downturn is giving up the little summer dress. As far as I’m concerned, there is nothing better than slipping into a breezy frock on a balmy day. Thankfully, the arrival of fall doesn’t mean having to bid adieu to your favorite flimsy dresses anymore. Layers are very much in this season and that means getting more wear out of those shifts and slips. By strategically piling on various other elements, mostly from your own existing wardrobe, you can end up with a look that is not only cozy but cost-effective and best of all, chic.

The key elements:

Tights

Channel It-girl Zooey Deschanel and her favorite red carpet looks by adding a pair of black tights to a colorful and festive dress (try Hue’s Super Opaque Tights, $12.50, available at hue.com). To add a little interest to a simple shift, while keeping your legs warm in the process, opt for J. Crew’s Herringbone Tights ($22.50).

Take-A-Maxi-Dress-From-Summer-To-Fall

Don’t let the seasons get in the way of your wardrobe anymore. Our Trendsetter Clueless Fashionista is here to help you extend the wear of your favorite maxi dresses for a few more months, while still remaining ultra chic. Her blog features some great fashion and beauty tips, plus some easy-to-follow makeup tutorials that you must not miss!
I have two words for you — maxi dresses! This year I discovered the maxi dress. Well let me clarify, I discovered that the maxi dress could work for me. I’ve known about them ever since they became popular again about a year or so ago. However, I thought that the wonderfully flowy dresses were reserved for women who were leggy or tiny, neither of which I am. So I admired them from afar.

This year, as I searched for dresses to add to my wardrobe, I decided to try one on. It was wonderful! The flowy material that I thought would over-emphasize my curves, managed to hug the places I wanted it to and hang loosely over the places I didn’t. Plus they are fabulously comfortable! I fell in love and proceeded to get several of them. My maxi dresses are so comfortable that I had to figure out a way to take them into the fall season.

I figured out a few cool ways to move the maxi dress seamlessly from the hot summer months to the cooler fall months.

Pair it with a short, cropped jacket
Throw on a great scarf
Wear it with a nice cardigan or sweater
Throw a short or long sleeved t-shirt underneath it
Now I must caution you here. If you want to experiment with any of these transitions, make sure you do a test run first. Put on the outfit, pull out your full length mirror (that EVERY woman should have) and take a look. Maxi dresses come in so many different styles that one transitional piece may work better than another. Be realistic. Transitional pieces should be just as fabulous as the pieces they’re transitioning.

Traditional African Beauty Tips

Africa is the continent where nature blooms in all it bounty. They have recipes for all sorts of pesky problems. And all the herbs found there to make those magical potions are found there. These have been passed down the ages. It has lasted generations. It is very rare that we see Africans with skin problems. They have been there for hundreds of years. They now even sell them commercially. They are made in Africa and the beauty industry has been flourishing there ever since. They can be bought from all drugstores, salons, and even online. But what would be even better is to incorporate the age old secrets into your everyday routine. Go natural with the natural products. There are some great remedies that you can create at home itself. Sometimes, old fashioned beauty is best.

Shea Butter Or Shea Oil

The two are derived from nuts from the karita tree, or shea tree as it is popularly called. This tree is found in atleast twelve countries in Africa. A majority of the shea butter produced in the world is done so in Burkina Faso. Shea butter is made commercially and put into hair products for added shine. A healthy scalp can be got from shea butter. It also reduces facial wrinkles and fine lines. It is a natural sun protecting oil. It is also used on stretch marks and on dry skin. It is soothing after a day out in the sun.

Lavender

Lavender has been used to prevent men from mistreating women. The fragrance was used as a way to keep their men. With the seductive scents of this herb, men would not even think of beating their wives or being abusive. Woman today use it to get noticed by their men. It works as a deodorant that is natural and not harmful to the skin. It also works as an insecticide, pesticide, and a tonic as well. You can make lavender water yourself at home by boiling a spoon of lavender in a little water. Apply it all over the body once it cools for a natural perfume.

Rooibos Tea

This is also known as red tea. It has a lot of antioxidants and so is great for a whole lot of skin and hair problems. It is used in soaps, shampoos and facial creams.

Honey

It hydrates and nourishes and so is not only popular in Africa but all over the world. It is an anti-inflammatory and is great for dandruff and an itchy scalp. Mix a little with hot water, massage it on and leave it overnight for best results.

Olive Oil

These trees are grown all over the continent and not only the oil but the leaves as well have been used in all sorts of treatments. The oil is great for a hot oil treatment as deep conditioning. Audrina-Patridges-Travel-Tips

If you didn’t know this already Audrina Patridge has her own blog over at celebuzz where she talks about what she’s up to lately and some times gives out some fashion and beauty tips. In her latest post, Audrina talks about what she wears when she travels. There are some great tips in there that I just had to share.

Wardrobe: When I’m going on a long flight or a road-trip, nothing beats a comfort. Believe it or not, I was in Dick’s Sporting Goods and I found this personal performance tracksuit, from FILA. It’s perfect for traveling because it’s comfortable, looks expensive and it’s a little more edgy than most of the tracksuits out there!

Shoes: I usually wear flats, so I can run to my gate when I’m running late! Haha. It’s also much easier when you’re going through security to just slip them off!

I splurged on a pair of Stella McCartney flats for the summer.

Makeup: I like to keep it simple when I’m getting on a plane. I usually just wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and mascara. I always bring lip balm, because I get so dry when I fly. My favorite right now is Rosebud salve. I also love Evian mists to keep my skin hydrated. They make them in 1.7oz sizes which are perfect to carry on! Another one of my favorite travel items is Giovanni Towelettes – they come in scents like Grapefruit and Lavender and they’re perfect when you want to freshen up.

Accessories: I always bring a pair of oversized sunglasses, and a scarf (in case it gets chilly on the plane). I also have started bringing a plain white shirt because I spilled an entire latte on myself (oops!) recently and had to buy a shirt at the airport gift store to change into! Usually I throw everything into an oversized bag.

More tips after the jump!

Entertainment: I try to update my iPod before a long trip, so I have some cool new playlists to listen to. I usually bring a magazine and a good book in my carry-on bag, and of course my camera!

Packing: I am quickly learning to be an expert packer – and I owe a huge thanks to my friend and stylist Joey! For my trip to Australia, we laid everything out, and then put each outfit into a ziplock bag so that it fit neatly into my suitcase. I try to pick shoes that go with multiple outfits, so I only have to bring a few pairs. Same thing for jewelry. Another really cool thing I recently discovered? A travel steamer! Jiffy makes one for about $49 and it’s small enough to take anywhere. You just fill it up with water and plug it in, and voila! You can get the wrinkles out of anything.

Yellow Eyebrows On Prada’s Spring 2010 Runway

For Non Blondes: Models walked the Prada SS 2010 runway with yellow eye brows. Photo: Getty Images

When it comes to beauty, Prada's fashion shows are always major trend-makers.

This season, while we're loving the red lacquered lips and teased, Bridget-Bardot-at-the-beach hair styles Prada sent down their Spring/Summer 2010 runway yesterday in Milan, the real news maker are the brows - or the lack there of.

The models' arches were minimized with yellow-blonde brow gel, and the effect was icy hot. It warmed up the faces while allowing all eyes to center on the cherry pop pouts, and created and overall look that seemed like a futuristic twist on classic - like a Japanese-inspired amine character, in St. Tropez.

It's not the first colored brow we've seen this season - makeup artist Tom Pecheux used grey shadow on the brows at Doo.Ri - but it is the most wearable.

If you can't wait till Spring to rock the look, grab Sephora's Lash and Eye Brow Mascara in Blonde, or use a clean mascara wand to apply Make Up For Ever Flash Color in Yellow.

And go easy on the rest of your eye makeup - because there's nothing mellow about yellow brows.

Fashion and Beauty Tips

If you take time to analyze the faces of women we consider the great beauties of today, you may be surprised that their faces and even their bodies aren't perfect. If you asked them what they didn't like about themselves, they would likely tell you something that no one else had ever noticed. It's actually quite rare to meet a woman who's completely happy with the way she looks.

Confidence Makes you Beautiful.

We want to encourage you to love yourself and know yourself. Don't feel pressured to be perfect. You are who you are, and we want you to connect with who you are. We can give you a lot of tips for developing your own style and dressing fashionably, but the answers to looking your best lie within yourself.

Beauty Through
As a designer who has worked with hundreds of women, given thousands of individual fashion tips, and consulted with them about their clothing, their bodies, their looks and their lives, I have seen some really attractive women who have thought they look terrible.

These women are exhibiting low self-esteem. If they do not believe they are attractive, then no one else will believe it either. But, what makes women attractive to others?

Here are the eight basics for being attractive:

1. Good hygiene
2. Good haircut
3. Well-proportioned clothing
4. Good shoes
5. A nice smile
6. Healthy skin
7. Good health
8. Good attitude

Balayage-Has-Become-A-Top-Summer-Hair-Trend

9 times out of 10, I think women look best when keeping their hair color close to its natural shade, with a few added highlights to bring out the texture of the cut. This usually compliments your skin tone and eye color etc. Being a brown-eyed brunette, I always figured I’d look foolish as a blond..with dark roots and mismatched eyebrows, I deemed the look as being all wrong. That is, until now. With the new technique of highlighting, called bayalage, I am ready to enter summer with a whole new look of natural sun-kissed highlights. Ok, enhanced-natural.

Gisele Bündchen’s bleached waves generated so much attention, it wasn’t long before celebrities fled to their hair stylist seeking the same multi-tonal do’ So, I wondered…what is this new buzz word ‘balayage’ and what makes it so different?

Balayage, a French word meaning ‘to sweep’ is a new method of highlighting which lightens the hair gradually from root to tip. This technique has shaken the salons from coast to coast because it achieves an ultra-natural effect by mimicing nature’s way of lightening hair. Hair should always be darker on the base of the hair shaft or the root area, rather then having light roots and dark ends. To balayage the hair, a lightening agent is painted on using a brush and paddle in a sweeping motion giving the hair colorist a bit more room to play and less methodical streaks. Foils aren’t used and the precision of the fine-tooth comb weaving in tiny streaks is no longer necessary. The thick mixture of lightener is applied onto a section of hair using one of three paint designs: singles, slants and V’s. The stylist uses a “sweeping” motion to apply lightener from thin at the roots to thicker towards the ends. This provides ultimate control over color application, allows for less outgrowth, much more color contrast within the hair and since the process requires no heat or foils, the hair experiences minimal damage

Simple wedding dresses have not only gained in popularity

You will also see many sarong wedding dresses, especially at the beach. You can do a colorful and printed option or choose a beautiful hand painted silk sarong. These will often be left white for the ceremony and then painted or dyed to wear when you get home.

If cost is a factor, going with a simple design will decrease the price drastically. Using a less expensive fabric, purchasing on the internet and using less embellishments will all provide cost savings.

You can search through some of your favorite department stores. You already love the designs, and usually in the summer, you can find many wonderful, simple choices for a wedding. You may find, not only a bridal dress, but the bridesmaids, too.

Simple wedding dresses are popular for a reason. They are generally less expensive, they can be dressed up or down, they tend to travel well, but most importantly they are beautiful. Look around, try some on and I think you will agree!

Choosing simple wedding dresses is easy. The Hawaii Wedding Guide has dresses, invitations and so much more.

HairStyles

Consider what hair colour would actually enhance your skin tone, bearing in mind the texture of your hair as well. Is it fine, thick or coarse? If you’re not sure what texture you’ve got, your hairdresser will be able to tell you instantly. The shag or the medium-length layered cut is a good choice for a sassy and irreverent look. It is great for round face shapes because the length significantly lengthens the face. The side bangs are angled in a way that reduces the forehead’s width. And the disheveled look of the layers emphasizes the femininity of the face. The heart-shaped (sometimes called the inverted triangle): The face is shaped like a heart with a full forehead, narrow cheeks and chin-line. Elegant hairstyles that suit this shape: A style with the fullness at the jawline and wavy bangs is recommended for this shape.

Hairstyles of women had achieved wide variations from time to time. Women hairstyles had always been elaborate and are not rigid but are flexible with the changing phases of time and generation. Depending upon the nature of occasion, women’s hairstyle differs and varies. Hairstyle is a very important aspect which measures the fashion of the latest trends. Women’s hairstyle can be verified depending upon the length of the tresses.

Before choosing a short haircut you have to do a research between the short hairstyles. The beauty of the short hairstyles is that you can accommodate the shape to enhance or distract certain traits. So you have to be very careful in your choice. Some short hairstyles can make a round face seems enormous. Be sure that the hairstyle fits your face.

Pear — this facial shape has a wide chin and a narrow forehead. A hairstyle that widens the forehead while taking attention away from the chin is desirable. Hair should be fuller on top and swept away from the face to create the illusion of a fuller forehead. Avoid styles that are wider at the chin to soften a square jaw line.

The diadems are back, and with them you can wear your hair loose without having to suffer with hair that attempt to get out of position. This trendy women hairstyle looks good during the day, but if you want to give a touch of elegance for the night, look for a headband with glare. If you want to keep discreet and simple but trendy hairstyles, pick a french twist is a great way to look good in a classic style.

Short cut hairstyle for the woman in her 30’s allows her to keep up with a colour maintenance program where the roots of her hair are dyed to remove the grey colouring. Short style haircuts is less demanding to maintain than longer or middle length hair and this provides the woman valuable time better spent elsewhere.

HandBags

There are so many handbags on offer, how to select the one that would complement your figure and go with most of your outfits? See fashion expert tips. What purse style would work best with your figure?Never mind the current fashion: your handbag should first of all complement your figure. A tiny purse on a largish woman looks a bit silly. But even though large bags are in fashion now, don’t go overboard, otherwise the bag will distract attention from your person.

If you are slim and tall, go for a round or square shaped purse. If you are not very tall, a bottle shaped handbag would look best. And, of course, a not very large backpack works perfectly for any figure.

Most handbags have adjustable handles, so make use of them. Large bags should never hang at the level of your hips: if necessary shorten the handle, so the bag comes to your waist line. And if you wear a backpack, it should not hang down over your backside: adjust the handles so it is just above your waist. This looks better, doesn’t put as much pressure on your lower back, and forces you to keep a good posture.

What color should you choose?

These days handbags are very colorful. Of course, this means that you can no longer have just one bag that would go with any outfit you wear. However, if you wear a lot of blue, orange or green, a matching color purse would make your outfit complete. Fruit prints are currently ‘in’, with the most popular being cherries, peaches and apples.

As far as prints go, a plain, one-color handbag is more practical as it is easier to match with your clothes. However, if you wear a single-colored dress, adding a bright, multicolored handbag might be a good idea.

Also each season of the year favors different handbag colors. All greens are very popular in spring, while red and orange are often seen in autumn. Winter favorites are white and all shades of blue.

And, of course, black is still a classic, which goes with any outfit. Brown handbags, too, are still popular although they are not very practical: a brown bag would only work with brown or beige clothing.

What are most fashionable purse materials?

Leather is always a classic, and it works for any situation and with any outfit. However, other purse materials are fashionable now. Fabric bags can look very stylish, as well as a mix of fabric and leather. Straw bags are simple, and create a great look for the summer. Moreover, since straw looks very natural, it works well with a summer outfit of any color.

Makeup

Brown eyes come in many different shades so let’s look at a kaleidoscope of colors to help us to enhance eye color. Colors opposite each other will be complementary so, will work to brighten each other up. For example: Red and green, orange and blue, purple and yellow. Depending on the shade of brown your eyes are will determine the shades of eye shadow you may use to brighten the brown which, may give you the effect of lightening that you are after, especially if you use colors that shimmer. If your eyes have a yellow tinge, try using an eye shadow with a purple tone. The next thing you need to consider is the one rule of makeup that will always guide you: Light colors bring out, make larger and highlight. Dark colors recede, minimize or contour. So with this in mind you could work with dark eyeliner and light eye shadow colors to emphasize your dark chocolate eyes with black liner, mascara, a smudge of pale pink eye shadow, and finish with lightly flushed cheeks and make your lips your signature. Create lip focus with a red or berry stain. To pull color focus from your eyes, giving the illusion of lighter eyes, go for a deeper shade of lip color.

Dark brown eyes are very versatile when it comes to color accents, and dark brown eyes are such a beautiful feature to have, I would play them up. Compliment your brown eyes with pale pinks, or accent the brown with gold and deep rusts. Have you tried using eyeliner to add definition? One look is to use one sheer glittery eye shadow used all over in combination with a softly smudged liner for a more sophisticated look.

I would definitely recommend you have a play with colored eyeliners. Dark brown eyes look stunning lined in shades of plum mix with a pale mauve shadow, aubergine mix with a shimmery light pink shadow, raisin mix with a mushroom soft brown shadow. Just remember to combine with a lighter shadow or your eyes may look more dramatic.

There are various methods of using eyeliner. Pencils are the most versatile eye-defining tools, as you can start softly, blending each layer back if it starts to become too heavy looking. Pencil can be smudged softly, or add depth under an eye shadow for a muted look, or used alone for strongly defined eyes.

Liquid eyeliner is much more dramatic, and can be applied over top of your eye pencil for added intensity, or used under eye shadow to enhance your eye shape. Both of these techniques ensure longwearing eyeliner.

For the most natural way to line your eyes, use a small, firm brush and apply eye shadow as your eyeliner. Make the most of your dark brown eyes, using soft pinks to really bring them out. Use brown mascara for day, and a black/brown mascara for evening or special occasions. Keep eyeliner to a minimum though. Just use it to softly frame your eyes. Avoid all black as it tends to be too strong. Chocolates, deep plums and charcoals smudged into your lashes will do the trick. You might like to try adding a very subtle contour in a soft mushroom color on your brow bone just above your crease and blend this softly.

On the days you feel like your eyes need a pick-me-up, jazz up your eye make-up a little. Graduating your eye makeup from at your lash line to your brow will give your eyes more depth. Use the darkest shade along your lash line, and merge into lighter shades nearer your brow. Contouring and shading can create the illusion of different eye shapes. By using dark to minimize and light to make larger, you can play with altering the length and size of your eyes.

If you just want to keep it simple, sweep a shimmery pastel shadow all over your lid, curl your lashes, apply 2 to 3 coats dark grey charcoal or dark brown mascara, and add a few individual false lashes on the outer corner of your eyes!

THE SCOOP: "This season feels fresh, confident and optimistic," said Westman. "People are conscious and aware that everything will be OK, but at the same time you don't want anything that's too opulent. I'd feel odd doing a look that's extra rich and polished at the moment." Max Azria's collection featured very detailed clothing with lots of black, and Westman created a certain hardness in the girls, to look appropriate in the clothing. Eyes were the focal point with lots of black kohl, with gloss on top of the lids for shine. Skin shimmered with highlighter, and lips were nude but healthy with a dab of balm. The hair looked gorgeous in a tousled, twisted bun. "I wanted the hair to look tight but nothing too slick and finished," said hair stylist Laurent Philippon. "I wanted it to look very organic."

GET THE LOOK - HAIR: Philippon spritzed hair with Bumble and Bumble Prep, before sectioning hair into about five different braids and blowing them dry with a hairdryer. This tactic gave the hair amazing wave and texture. Philippon removed the braids, ran Bumble and Bumble Styling Wax through the hair and separated the top section into a twist. He wound the bottom section into a bun, to which he joined the twisted top section, fastening them together with bobby pins.

BEAUTY TIPS:BEAUTIFUL BIG HAIR

From Charlie's Angels to Kim Kardashian, beautiful big(ish) hair styling tips…

I am going to show my age here, but who cares?!

As a boy, I grew up with posters and pictures of Charlie’s Angels plastered all over my bedroom. It was back in the day when Drew Barrymore was in ET and had no idea (at least I think so) that she would one day try and emulate those icons of 1970's style.

I would collect every, and I mean every, picture of the Angels that I could get my teenage hands on. I could go on and on, but maybe another time. Why I bring this up is that Charlie’s Angel hair, or at least the flavor, is back!

Wooo hoooo… flat and overly straightened hair is finally done.

Look in Allure, Vogue or Elle magazine and you can see bigger, looser and overall much sexier hair. This look is so many things that I love about hair. It subliminally says, "I’m here, I’m sexy, and I don’t have to make my hair perfect'! “And, this modern glamour, big hairstyle can be styled to work on whatever hair length you have, except super short, of course.

The idea is not to make hair look too “done” or too big. If after styling, you have visions of Prom 1984 in the South… it’s too much!
If your hair is really curly or frizzy just tame it with a little polisher product like Frizz Ease drops.

Beauty product flashback: Here's a word that you haven't heard in a while, mousse. That's right. If you have straight hair, use mousse to create body!

Blow dry with round brush for a medium all over bend or curl in hair. When completely dry, tease a little, all over but not to the extreme, using a paddle brush. Then spray with Shaper Hair Spray by Sebastian (MY FAVORITE!) and shape with fingers until your inner Farrah starts to appear. - Mr. Beauty Tips

WOMEN WHO GLOW ALL OVER

Glowing Skin For the Body
If you're old fashion and you believe in getting a tan the natural way you should always protect yourself with sunscreen having at least an SPF of 30 or more. Apply as often as you can to make sure you're protecting your beautiful skin from sunrays. I must however warn you that by tanning this way you are in high risk of getting a sun burn, so you should really check out a tanning salon first. The old saying burn first and tan later is completely false.

One of the biggest secrets for getting healthy natural looking tanned skin is actually by going to a tanning salon and getting a small base tan. If you're scared about going to the tanning salon research the best ones in your area and visit the salon before you actually get the producer done. If you have a Mystic Tan is your area I highly recommend going there since their tan can brown your skin very nicely. Ask for a level one tan which is perfect for achieving a nice tanned look. After a while you can start lying in the sun if you want to keep your tan up or to make it darker. Now that you have a base tan your skin will tanner easier. Or you can keep going to the salon, but you must do one of the two in order to keep your tan going strong and healthy!

When it comes to tanning, every person's skin type is different so you may get different results. Before getting started me sure you talk with your local tanning salon for a skin type analysis (from a Smart Tan Certified Tanning Consultant) so you can get a good idea of where to start.

Always remember that tanning too often can and will speed up your aging process and potentially cause other skin ailments over a long period of time. So make sure that you aren't tanning too often.

There is of course a easier way to get both a tan and glowing skin at the same time. And you don't have to worry about getting skin damage or take time out of your schedule by lying in the sun. As you may know many companies are producing wonder little bottles of self tanners and lotions to apply daily. You may be thinking these products are going to make my skin look natural or brown, just orange and sticky. This used to be true, but over the past few years tanner lotions have gotten better. The trick is knowing which ones produce the best results. Always make sure that your product contains a small dose of that tan in a bottle miracle called DHA. This is the good stuff that provides healthy skin benefits , while firming and reducing stubble

Current La Mimi Obsession- Maxi Dress

Spring and Summer is all about dressing feminine and light. One of the easiest ways to do that is to put on a dress. It doesn’t take too much thought or effort to wear a maxi dress, as long as you pick the right one for your body shape, insuring it flatters and accentuates all your best features.
Remember to pay attention to the length, material, design and print.

Material- The material has to be flowy and not clingy.
Length- You don’t want it too long or too short, just long enough to almost hit the floor when you are bare feet. That way you can wear it with flats or a bit of platform.
Design- Halternecks are more flattering for those with larger bust. Spaghetti straps are better for those with smaller bust.
Print- choose prints in proportion to your height and weight. Prints that are striking and big on a small frame will look too strong and overpowering.
I already found two maxi dresses for this summer, one in a small print (I’m 5’5) and one in a nice bold turquoise color. Unfortunately, it’s too cold for me to wear them yet. I promise to show them in a post once it warms up.

DRIVEN AND DEDICATED GUITARISTS

With the coming of Professor Frank Koonce from Arizona to Dhaka, and the careful guidance of the Alliance Française guitar teacher, Iftekhar Anwar, guitar notes have flooded the Ecole de Musique for the past two occasions of Fête de la Musique. They’ve had Olivier Labe, to shout them on. Labe comes from Paris, and on two occasions, one has witnessed his expertise at the Dhaka University premises and the Alliance Française. Labe has superbly combined his guitar know-how with other instruments too- leading to fusion music- with dance and accompanying notes of Bangladeshi musical instruments, such as the “tabla” and the “harmonium”.

With Iftekhar Anwar, the guitar teacher of Ecole de Musique, to lead them on, Medieval, Renaissance, Romantic and Modern music on the guitar are seeing their emergence for the eager music enthusiasts of the guitar group of the Ecole de Musique. With encouragement, perseverance and a little bit of luck, the Ecole de Musique guitar players should go a long way.
Both Japan and Bangladesh have always shared good bilateral relations during the last three decades, with Japan providing its services as an important development partner to Bangladesh. Besides cultural and political cooperation, economic cooperation between these two countries has always been prominent. The foundation of this economic cooperation has been aid (both financial, infrastructural and in terms of technical skill building of human resources), trade and investments.

Japan has always been keen on introducing new technology to Bangladesh, and today they are looking to tapping Bangladesh’s ICT resources in the form of offshore outsourcing. To establish this point, the Japanese embassy in Bangladesh brought in Professor Dr. Keiko Morisawa from Osaka City University, Japan, to provide an informative lecture on the present situation and challenges of IT service industry, through her wealth of experience in Southeast Asian countries.

Fashion at India Fashion Week

NEW DELHI: India’s biggest fashion event started on a dark note in New Delhi with designers using the global recession and emotional depression to set a sombre trend for their autumn/winter collections.

Models draped in black, grey and deep purple sashayed down the catwalk at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, a five-day event in which 103 designers vie for the attention of 175 domestic and international buyers.

“We are in the heart of recession, and it’s fashionable,” said designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh, whose “Frugality is the new Black” collection was inspired by the global downturn.

“I’ve combined high-street cheap leggings with luxe jackets, T-shirts with luxury shawls,” she said. “You can be frugal, sensible, spend less and yet you can be fashionable.”

Designer Nitin Bal Chauhan’s “Condition Apply Part II” showed the underbelly of fast urban life, especially in India’s capital, in a follow-up to an earlier collection.

Models acted out themes such as vanity, divorce and depression on stage wearing predominantly grey pleated dresses, trousers and skirts.

“It’s inspired by the urban life, the flip side of urban life far removed from the glowing city life,” said Chauhan, who added he is influenced by TV and newspaper stories of urban misery.

Models wore headgear made from junk such as spectacles, which the designer said represented lonely senior citizens left behind in a bustling city, or a study lamp, in reference to students who commit suicide because of work and social pressures.

The show ended with a masked robber strangling a model sitting on a rocking chair.

Chauhan also wove gloom from the recession, which has dented India’s recent economic boom, into the designs.

“If you look at my shirts, they are asymmetric, and parts of the shirt is missing. Part of the cuff is missing, part of the collar is missing, so recession will definitely have an impact on my collection,” he said.

“All my headgear are made of junk,” Chauhan added. “In times of recession things that you put aside certainly hold meaning.”
